Elected in 1998, and taking the seat left open after the passing of Sheriff Charles Durst the previous year, Sheriff Alvie Kight, Jr. has made numerous improvements to the law enforcement community in Toombs County.
Over the past two decades, Sheriff Kight has improved training and opportunities for law enforcement officers in our area as well as facilitated better working relationships with area law enforcement agencies that allow our communities to be better protected and informed of threats and crime. His door is always open to the public for questions and concerns, and he ensures that he and his staff are readily available for community events, news, or in the event of any natural disaster or other crime that affects this county.
